Jess is licensed to practice law in California and Washington. She represents emerging and high-growth privately held and public companies across a wide range of industries, including healthcare, software and technology, and energy and natural resources. Her practice covers an array of corporate and transactional matters spanning the lifecycle of the company, from company formations, corporate governance, early and late-stage venture capital financings, and debt transactions to mergers and acquisitions and initial public offerings. Jess also has experience representing investors who invest in emerging growth companies, including VC funds, strategic investors and corporate venture groups.

Jess is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law. At the University of Virginia, she was the Chief Investment Officer of Rivanna Investments, the first student-run investment portfolio of any law school in the nation, where she managed a fund of over $200,000. She also served as the Assistant Membership Editor and Editorial Board Member of the Virginia Tax Review. Jess earned degrees in Economics and Philosophy from the University of Montana’s Davidson Honors College where she graduated with high honors and was named a Mortar Board Scholar.
